Introduction to Wheel Throwing SC Studio Art 120.1 Fall 2015
This piece is intended to represent a gathering of monks coming together during worship. The picture above was inspiration for the final product. The orange/red glazing instills imagery of Buddhist attire, prayer, customs, ideals, and values. Additionally, it embodies joy and unity, bringing together all shapes and sizes of people/vases under a common ethical and religious context. The white interiors can serve to embody purity and simplicity. The circular arrangement has further links to Buddhist tradition and meaning, while the rows imply order and discipline.
